The Experimental Wing

Mostly Fine

Curiosity, contained. Mostly.

Home of the orb and the experiments that orbit it. We test the things the rest of the station would rather not, and we file the results, almost without exception, as "mostly fine." That classification has held since Orbital Year 8.

Sub-Offices

Orb Observation

Watches the orb. Records its mood. Has never once needed to intervene, which is either reassuring or not.

Containment & Curiosity

Keeps the interesting things in and the worried things out. A delicate, ongoing balance.

Hypothesis Filing

Logs every theory about the orb. None confirmed. All respected.

The Humming Room

Where the device from Engineering hums. Acoustically pleasant. Purpose unknown.

Safety (Optional but Encouraged)

Maintains goggles no one wears and a fire blanket everyone loves.

Results That Defy Explanation

An archive of outcomes that worked but should not have. Cross-referenced with the Drawer.

Standing Procedures

  • If the orb is mostly fine, you are mostly fine. Proceed.
  • Do not poke the orb. It has not asked to be poked.
  • Document the inexplicable. Especially the inexplicable.
  • If an experiment hums, leave it humming. It is happy.

Consult the orb yourself at the Ask the Orb terminal.
