Chapter 1 of 11

Welcome Aboard

You are part of the system. You are not the whole system. Both matter.

Welcome to Low Orbit Sardine Station. Whether you arrived by transit pod, by customs queue, or simply by showing up one day and never quite leaving, you belong here now. This chapter explains what that means.

What This Station Is

The station is a shared experiment in coexistence between Martian seals and Venusian penguins, two species with almost nothing in common except that they both feel things deeply and both like soup. It holds together not because nothing breaks, but because we keep repairing it together. You are now one of the repairers.

Your First Day

Find the soup. Introduce yourself to one (1) creature. Locate the nearest Quiet Corner in case you need it later. That is the entire orientation. Everything else you will learn by being here, gently, over time.

The Three Principles

  • Observe carefully. Notice what is happening, including inside yourself.
  • Document honestly. Write down what is true, even the small or weird parts.
  • Offer soup when appropriate. It is almost always appropriate.
