Chapter 7 of 11Communication & Memos
Keep communicating. Keep caring. Keep showing up.
The Internal Communications Office maintains every notice on every board. This chapter explains how to write, post, and read station memos without triggering a third clarifying memo.
Writing a Memo
Lead with the subject. Say the true thing kindly. If an apology is owed, make it a real one; the Office has retired the phrase "mistakes were made" entirely.
Posting Etiquette
A crooked memo is a memo unread, so pin all four corners. Apology memos get the best spot on the board. If your notice becomes a saying the whole station repeats, it graduates to the Accidental Culture Unit with honors.
Reading Between the Lines
- "Doing fine" may include imminent soup requirement. Context matters.
- Important, small, and weird memos all count. Read them all.
- The Suggestion Slot is anonymous and read aloud, kindly, each week.
- Do not name emergency equipment. It complicates evacuation.
