Chapter 8 of 11

Sliding & Momentum Safety

Safety beats speed. But oh, the speed.

Seals slide. This is not in dispute. The Momentum & Sliding Research Bureau provides this chapter so that everyone slides where it is safe and walks where it is not.

Where Sliding Is Permitted

Sliding is not only allowed but encouraged in posted Slide Zones, which are padded, supervised, and cheered. Everywhere else, and especially in Hallway 3, walking is the expectation. Hallway 3 is currently stable. This is not an invitation.

Confidence vs. Velocity

The Bureau studies the gap between "I can make that turn" and the turn itself. That gap is the entire field of momentum safety. A confident seal is a station asset; a confident seal in an unposted corridor is a report.

Momentum Rules

  • Walk when possible. Slide only where posted.
  • Yield to ladles in transit. Always.
  • Ramps require a permit. Permits require a plan. Plans require a deep breath.
  • If you do slide somewhere new, log it honestly. We are curious, not angry.
